You've probably seen this, but it's the sort of thing that ought to be passed along even beyond what its palpable immediate importance might require:
A hospital in the Netherlands -- the first nation to permit euthanasia -- recently proposed guidelines for mercy killings of terminally ill newborns, and then made a startling revelation: It has already begun carrying out such procedures, which include administering a lethal dose of sedatives.Posted by Justin Katz at December 1, 2004 12:46 AM
Even the staunchest pro-choicer's must admit that this is nothing less than murder.
Let the hemming and hawing being.
Posted by: Marty at December 1, 2004 3:51 PMugh, long day -- thats BEGIN, not being...
Posted by: Marty at December 1, 2004 3:51 PMMarty, that's what the "staunchest pro-choicer" will never admit, must never admit. Don't count on them doing so. We crossed that red line a good long time ago.
Posted by: Sage at December 1, 2004 4:10 PMI remember hearing one of the stanchest pro-choicers admiting abortion is murder and supporting it on Air America last year. I suspect that the whole choice vs. murder battle is a deception. We argue, they pretend to disagree to delay they real argument. It might be better to argue more directly, some of them supported Willie Horton's murder of healthy adults, ask them, why?
Posted by: Ripper at December 1, 2004 11:17 PMI kind of get the idea of euthanasia for adults who're conscious enough to make an informed decision about their terminal illnesses and the pain they'd have to go through to continue living. I don't approve, but I understand how there could be arguments for it.
I DON'T see how it could possibly be considered justifiable that one could make this decision for another person (and I don't know anyone who would seriously argue that a newborn isn't a person).

I remember hearing a candidate in a PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE say that he believed unborn babies were living humans, that it was murder, and that he still stood on the side of choice.
