... but painting every room in a house has confirmed, I'm a failed perfectionist.
I set out intending to take the time to do the job flawlessly, but now I'm finding that I just don't care.
Posted by Justin Katz at July 14, 2004 2:47 PMA good day to you. A very good day. It was a good day. A day to remember.
I hope the painting goes well. Things change in time. Good changes.
Posted by: Vestra at July 14, 2004 5:47 PMHa ha. I'm with you there, Justin. I was the same way when we moved into our house. And then when we painted the outside last fall, I criticized my wife because she put too thin a coat on in places and you could see the underlying paint still. Then I went back and looked at the sections I'd done after they dried, and they were just as bad if not worse!
Part of the problem is it's hard to be a perfectionist at something you haven't done before (at least in my case with house painting) - you have to have some practice before being a perfectionist is reasonable. Plus it is exhausting when you have to paint on a deadline...
Posted by: Mike S. at July 15, 2004 12:21 PMThe Wagner Power Painter is an invention STRAIGHT FROM HEAVEN. Except for the constant refilling and cleaning, it is much better, with better results, than a brush or roller (it also uses more paint, though). The difficulty is in the preparation (taping and covering). But the ease once you actually start painting is well worth it. I do feel for you.
