A Political Epiphany

Hey, I've got an idea! Why doesn't the President sacrifice some support among his base of voters in order to add a cultural aspect to his image that will soften the impression that the cultural elite have of him? Surely, if he increases funding to the National Endowment for the Arts, or something, liberals couldn't continue to see him as a right-wing stereotype.

Right?

He keeps offering them tokens, and they keep biting off his hand. I don't understand how he has any hands left with which to keep doing this. I am especially amused by John Kerry's recent derision of Bush's spending on education, seeing as how Bush went out of his way to cooperate with the sociali... er... senior senator from Massachusetts on that education bill, which upset a lot of conservatives and placated nobody.
